ObamaCare has made 83 percent of doctors consider quitting

A recent survey of American physicians conducted by the non-partisan Doctor Patient Medical Association found that ObamaCare has made a whopping 83 percent of doctors consider leaving their practices. If that were to happen in Illinois, we would be left with just over 6,000 doctors for the entire state. The doctor patient ratio would soar to 1 doctor for every 2,079 people. That's up from 1 doctor for every 353 people, today.

But Illinois is already facing a doctor shortage, even if none of our doctors quit over ObamaCare. According to state and federal data, there are primary care provider shortages in all but five of Illinois’ 102 counties. To make matters worse, half of recent medical graduates are fleeing the state. The Association of American Medical Colleges further predicts that, after ObamaCare starts being implemented in 2015, there will be a doctor shortage in the United States of 62,900. Based on the current distribution of doctors among the states, Illinois' share of that shortage would be 2,740.

The only question left is: how long will you have to wait for your next doctor's appointment or surgery?
