Milton Friedman Internship

The Illinois Policy Institute’s Milton Friedman Internship prepares individuals interested in liberty and free markets to gain valuable work experience in a variety of areas and to advance their policy goals.

Named after famed Chicago School economist and free market advocate Milton Friedman, this exclusive program provides interns with the opportunity to work with Institute staff and scholars to advance liberty in Illinois. Interns can specialize in policy research; communications; and/or video production, and will acquire experience in public policy research, outreach, writing, social networking, event coordination, and more.

Milton Friedman interns contribute to the Institute’s blog, as well as OpenIllinois.org and IllinoisOpenGov.org, our government transparency websites. Milton Friedman Interns will also have the opportunity to write for our e-newsletter and our quarterly print magazine, The Compass.

The Milton Friedman Internship is available for students in all fields of study, but especially for students interested in:

  • Economics
  • Journalism
  • Public relations
  • Communications
  • Political science
  • Public policy
  • Government
The internship is paid with a monthly stipend.  Academic credit is also available.

Successful candidates and interns have an appreciation of and interest in free markets and liberty, attention to detail, and solid research skills.  Technical skills in the area of websites, graphic design, or video editing are a plus.  Candidates available for a full-time commitment are desired but those seeking a part-time opportunity will also be considered.

Interested candidates should send resumes, cover letters, and preferred area of specialization (policy research, communications, and/or video production) to Michael Demkovich at michael@illinoispolicy.org.
