Today, rumors were confirmed that Gov. Pat Quinn is considering raising the Illinois income tax by 50 percent—even though a recent Zogby poll shows that Illinois voters overwhelmingly reject a tax increase to close the budget gap.

“Illinois doesn’t have a revenue problem.  We have a spending problem,” said John Tillman, CEO, Illinois Policy Institute. “And while Gov. Quinn just wants to reach deeper and deeper into the pockets of working families, fortunately, some leaders in Springfield are standing up for the taxpayers.  We applaud House Republican Leader Tom Cross for working closely with us on our Economic Reform Agenda.”

John Tillman appeared Fox News Chicago to discuss the tax hike.  You can watch the full video here
