Chicago Tribune: Chicago aldermen are up for their biggest raises in 15 years. Will any of them turn it down?
While many Chicagoans continue struggling to make ends meet amid the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, the city’s aldermen are currently facing their own struggle: whether to accept a nearly 5.5% pay raise for next year that will kick the highest-paid among them to a salary topping $130,000.
Each alderman has until Sept. 15 to decline the raise, or else it takes effect automatically on Jan. 1.
State Journal-Register: Illinois' School District 186 may ask ISBE and IDPH to consider student COVID vaccines
In what may be first in the state, the School District 186 board of education Tuesday heard the first reading of a resolution requesting the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health consider including COVID-19 vaccinations into its regular schedule of immunization requirements.
The resolution was read into the record by board member Micah Miller, who represents Subdistrict 2. The resolution will be voted on by the school board at its Sept. 20 meeting.
