State Journal-Register: Proposal would let more voters try to cut property taxes
As legislation to freeze property taxes remains stalled in the state legislature, some Republican senators are suggesting that more voters be given a chance to lower property taxes.
Their idea is to give voters in counties covered by property tax limits the ability to put a referendum on the ballot to lower their taxes. Voters in counties that are not covered by the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (PTELL) already have that ability.

Crystal Lake Park District board members are considering selling
$3.5 million in bonds to fund new capital improvement projects.
Park District Executive Director Jason Herbster said that during his eight years at the district, board members have approved selling $1.5 million in general obligation park bonds every two years to fund a variety of projects.
Daily Herald: New tollway chief gets $29,000 more than previous CEO
The Illinois tollway’s new Executive Director Elizabeth Gorman will be paid $215,000 a year, $29,000 more than her predecessor.
Gorman, a former Republican Cook County commissioner and PricewaterhouseCoopers executive, was approved by the tollway board Feb. 22. At the time her salary was being negotiated.

Lake Zurich trustees have created a special taxing zone to spur development along Rand Road centered on the long-closed and soon-to-be-demolished Kmart.
The village board last Monday voted unanimously in favor of a tax increment financing district to help revitalize the Kmart property and others nearby, including Paulus Park.
