On May 23, Democrats in the Illinois Senate passed a $5.4 billion tax increase.
In passing the tax increase, the Senate Democrats have sent a strong message to Illinois taxpayers: “We politicians are not the problem. Neither is our dysfunctional state government. The problem with Illinois is that taxpayers haven’t been sending enough of their paychecks to state government and the political class.”
But Illinoisans know that’s wrong.
A shortage of revenue is not the problem with Illinois. And a tax increase is not the solution.
The measure now heads to the Illinois House of Representatives, where House Speaker Mike Madigan’s party holds the legislative majority and politicians are all too eager to take more from Illinoisans.
We need your help to put pressure on key lawmakers and urge them to reject this multibillion-dollar tax hike.
