Two prominent public policy groups have called on Illinois lawmakers to hike taxes on seniors through a retirement income tax.
But Illinois seniors on fixed incomes already pay some of the nation’s highest property taxes, which continue to grow every year. And those dollars are increasingly diverted from core services to pensions.
Thankfully, a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers are rallying support behind House Resolution 32, which opposes a tax on retirement income.
