According to our transparency site, IllinoisOpenGov.org, in fiscal year 2009, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity awarded the Chicago Architecture Foundation a $200,000 grant. The DCEO disbursed $100,000 of the grant in fiscal year 2009, and since then, the entire $200,000 grant has been disbursed according to the DCEO’s Grant Tracker website.
The Grant Tracker site states that this funding was part of a “[g]rant program to develop and/or enhance Illinois tourism attractions.” The Chicago Architecture Foundation requested the funds “to assist in the development of the 2008-2009 Special Exhibitions including the Chicago Model City, which will feature a state-of-the-art scale model of the city of Chicago.”
