Using our transparency website, IllinoisOpenGov.org, I found that on January 9, 2009, the Prairie State Generating Company in Washington County, Illinois received a $2,000,000 grant from the Department of Commerce. This grant comes three months after the company received a grant worth $340,000. The Prairie State Generation Company (PSGC) “is the largest partnership of municipal and cooperative power agencies in the Midwest.”
