Local Transparency Project Started in Evanston Township Area

Evanston Resident Dan Kamerling has teamed up with the Illinois Policy Institute to conduct a Local Transparency Project in the Evanston Township Area.

by Brian Costin

Recently, Evanston resident and Northwestern University student Dan Kamerling approached us and asked to conduct a Local Transparency Audit in the Evanston Township area.

As a result, in February we conducted an initial audit of 5 different local government units.

The high score was a 65.4, the low score was a 2, and the average score was 33.7 out of 100. Individual scores will be released at the culmination of this project.

The 5 entities that are being audited as part of the project are as follows.

On or after May 2, the Illinois Policy Institute will conduct a 2nd transparency audit and the results will be released shortly thereafter our website.

Between now and May 2 we hope to work with all government entities audited in the Evanston Township area to improve their transparency scores.
