Repeal Illinois’ digital asset transaction tax
The Illinois state budget signed by Gov. JB Pritzker includes the nation’s first tax on digital asset transactions.
It’s not a tax on profits or gains, but simply a tax on transfers, even for moving assets between your own wallets. It’s also double taxation. Illinoisans already pay taxes on income and gains — this adds a second tax on top of that.
This tax will drive investment away from Illinois, at a time when the state desperately needs it.
Tell your lawmaker to repeal this new tax before it takes effect Jan. 1, 2027.
