With the General Assembly scheduled to adjourn at the end of the month, it’s time to put the finishing touches on the 2021-22 state budget that takes effect on July 1.
Unfortunately, federal officials have thrown a monkey wrench into the budget gears by announcing that none of the $7.5 billion in federal bailout money is to be used to pay down Illinois’ substantial debts.

Styles traditionally associated with natural Black hair — locs, braids, twists and Afros — have been called everything from distracting to unprofessional in schools and workplaces, leaving many Black Americans feeling pressure to style their hair in ways that conform with Eurocentric ideals.
A bill that recently passed in the Illinois Senate aims to address Black hair discrimination in schools across the state.
WIBQ: Illinois interstates to receive additional signage promoting electronic charge stations
With an on-going national effort to promote alternative fuel, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said he hopes to have 750,000 thousand electric vehicles on the road by 2030.
To help with that initiative, signs will be hung on state interstates promoting existing charging stations within a certain proximity.
