Chicago Sun-Times: Should the Dan Ryan Expressway be the Barack Obama Expressway?
Mayoral candidate Bill Daley made a surprising proposal Friday: rename the Dan Ryan Expressway on Chicago’s South Side after former President Barack Obama.
“Barack Obama is from Chicago. He owns a home here. This is where the Obama library is based,” Daley said in a statement. “I’d like to see the legislature act on this early next year.”
Northwest Herald: Algonquin Township highway commissioner's lawyer pursuing payment denied by board
The $400-an-hour Woodstock attorney representing Algonquin Township Highway Commissioner Andrew Gasser wants to get paid.
Responding to the township board’s rejection of $35,000 in legal bills he submitted to the road district, Robert Hanlon wrote a letter to Gasser on Dec. 13 accusing Trustee Melissa Victor of “petty vindictiveness” and township attorney James Kelly of a “lack of knowledge.”

An eminent domain case could take months or years to be resolved, Algonquin Village President John Schmitt recently said.
The village voted last month to begin eminent domain proceedings to try to acquire a portion of a man’s private property and build a nearby roundabout. The village also wants a five-year easement.
