Chicago Sun-Times: Bernie Sanders to join Chicago Teachers Union labor rally
In the midst of heated contract negotiations with Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the Chicago Teachers Union is getting a boost from a major supporter.
Democratic presidential hopeful and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders from Vermont is coming to Chicago Tuesday to join a 7 p.m. labor rally at CTU headquarters on the Near West Side.

The Southern: Carbondale City Council to talk pot on Tuesday
Coming on the heels of two Southern Illinois communities voting to opt out of allowing the sale of recreational cannabis come Jan. 1, the Carbondale City Council on Tuesday will discuss city staff’s recommendation to allow the sale of pot in the city.
In the last month, the cities of Marion and Murphysboro have both opted out of allowing weed sales come Jan. 1, after a state law goes into effect legalizing the substance for those 21 and older. However, several city leaders in Carbondale don’t plan to join ranks with their neighbors.
