While standing in a very long line at the Post Office yesterday, I noticed this placard advertising their PhotoStops Kit. Basically, you get to put a photo of your choice on a legit stamp.

We all know that USPS is facing major fiscal issues. Things are bad. So bad, apparently, that they’re asking customers NOT to use their product. From that placard:

PhotoStamps Kits are a great gift for the person who has everything. The PhotoStamps themselves make a great memorial if framed. [my emphasis]

I get philatelics and the collecting vibe, but really, frame a set of stamps featuring the photo you paid to add to them? An unredeemed product is pure cash for the Post Office. And they sure seem to need more of that nowadays.
