The Illinois Department of Employment Security announced today that the Illinois unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent in June, up from 9.1 percent in May. The U.S. unemployment rate held steady in June at 7.6 percent.
The state added 9,000 private sector jobs in June.

A year ago, the state’s unemployment rate was 9 percent, while the country’s unemployment rate was 8.2. Illinois added 57,700 private sector jobs, compared to June 2012.
On net, the state has added 12,900 jobs in 2013.
More than 600,000 Illinoisans remain unemployed.
