Kraft Heinz to cut 700 jobs at Illinois headquarters

On Aug. 12, The Kraft Heinz Co. announced plans to lay off 700 employees at Kraft’s Northfield, Illinois, headquarters.

In another blow to Illinois’ already bleak jobs outlook, The Kraft Heinz Co. announced on Aug. 12 that it would cut 700 jobs at Kraft’s Northfield, Illinois, facility as part of a cost-reduction plan.

These cuts come in the wake of the July 2015 merger of Kraft Foods Group Inc. and H.J. Heinz Co. – now Kraft Heinz is taking steps to meet its goal of saving $1.5 billion by the end of 2017. The Northfield cuts are part of a series of staff reductions that will eliminate 2,500 jobs across the U.S. and Canada.

The 700-person layoffs will result in approximately one-third of Kraft’s 2,000 Northfield employees losing their jobs.

Unfortunately, this is only the latest in a string of job losses for Illinois.
