Illinoisans already pay some of highest gas taxes in the nation, but state lawmakers are asking for even more.
Gov. Pritzker signed legislation doubling the state’s gas tax, making Illinoisans’ gas tax burden second-highest in the nation. The bill also increased license plate fees by $50 a year.
