Repeal the income tax hike

On July 2, the Illinois House voted to permanently increase the personal income tax rate by 32%.

Taxpayers received nothing in exchange for this record tax increase.

Illinoisans already face the highest combined tax burden in the nation and cannot afford to send another $1,000 a year to Springfield.

State Rep. David McSweeney introduced legislation to repeal the income tax hike and reinstate Illinois’ individual income tax rate of 3.75 percent and corporate rate of 5.25 percent. Would also restore the tax rates’ 2025 sunset dates, when the individual rate was set to drop to 3.25 percent, and the corporate rate was scheduled to drop to 4.8 percent.
