One of Illinois’ top officials this summer admitted that a progressive tax paves the way for a new retirement tax.
“One thing a progressive tax would do is make clear you can have graduated rates when you are taxing retirement income,” Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs said. “And, I think that’s something that’s worth discussion.”
