Support school choice

Illinois schools spend among the highest in the region per student but aren’t achieving the results that students need. Illinois students lag the national average in metrics showing college readiness.

House Bill 443, filed Jan. 13, 2017 by state Rep. Jeanne Ives, R-Wheaton, would allow parents to enroll their child at any state-recognized, nonpublic school and be reimbursed by the state for the cost of that tuition as a part of a voucher program.

Students – especially those at the state’s lowest-performing schools – deserve an education system that works for them. Giving their family the responsibility and the resources to make that choice should be a top priority.
