Illinois small businesses and workers are getting crushed. Yet lawmakers are threatening to pummel them with a massive tax hike.
More than 100,000 small businesses would likely face an income tax hike under Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s progressive tax amendment, which is scheduled to appear on the November ballot. These aren’t massive corporations. They are the S-corps and partnerships, or “pass-through” businesses, that drive our state’s economy.
It is unfair to force small business owners to stare down a tax hike at a time when they’re facing severe hardship.
