Small Business Owners Make Plans to Leave Illinois
A number of business owners have joined the over 2,400 who have signed our tax hike repeal petition and have stated their intention to leave Illinois or close their doors.

It has been almost 1 week since we launched our “Petition to Repeal the Income Tax Increase” at RepealtheTaxHike.com. Over 4,250 people have already declared their opposition to the recent personal and corporate income tax hikes.
Many of the signers are Illinois business owners and have commented on either their plans to leave Illinois, or to close their doors.
There are two trends we’ve noticed in those businesses who’ve said they plan on moving to a new state: 1) moving across the border to states like Indiana and Wisconsin and, 2) moving to low tax states like Florida and Texas.
Please share your story when you sign the petition at RepealtheTaxHike.com.
Here’s a small selection of those comments from Illinois business owners.
We live 30 miles from the Indiana border and unless this is repealed we will be making provisions to move there and take our 200+ employee business with us.

We employ over 200 people in Illinois. We also have manufacturing plants in Michigan, Wisconsin and Mexico. If the State of Illinois does not take significant cost reduction steps soon, we move our operations out of Illinois.

I have a company with 16 employees; have just purchased a home in Texas. We may consider moving the entire company to Texas thanks to the latest incentive from the State of Illinois. We will certainly focus any expansion in Texas rather than in Illinois. Texas offers about a 10% per employee advantage economically thanks to the Illinois tax system.

My husband and I are barely paying our bills now, with the help of family. As a small business owner, business has drastically cut down. Loss of more jobs in Illinois will cause me to close my doors.

I am currently in the process of moving my business to Indiana. I have incorporated two of my business in Indiana already to save from paying higher taxes in Illinois. My music business is next. Once I have done that, I will also leave Illinois. No more paying taxes to a state that sucks money out of hard working citizens.

I own a small electrical business with 7 employees. I live a half mile from Indiana and WILL be moving by business there. The State and Cook County taxes are the highest ever.

The tax hike will negatively affect my personal life and business. I will have to lay off employees and also seriously consider moving out of state. I already had to pull my kids out of private school to help make ends meet. Now this.

I am an Illinois resident now but may relocate to Florida.
Where there is NO income tax. I own 2
Illinois corporations and am going to look into moving them to Florida. This
tax increase is unacceptable. What is so hard about spending the same or less
money than you bring in? We the people do this every day!
