“[Illinois has] done so much to discourage manufacturing. You have a business climate that’s poisonous for creating these jobs.

“I would challenge anyone to come to Hammond and take a look at what this town has done over the past 15 years. Every school has been rebuilt. They’re all brand new. They’ve doubled the police force. I think it’s become a nice place to live.

“I’m staying.”
