The Institute’s Snow Squad is out canvassing the city to see how well Springfield is responding to the winter storm. Check here for updates throughout the day. We will post our final grade no later than 7:00PM.

We’re capturing the conditions of four main roads and two side streets and factoring the city’s performance on each into Chicago’s final main road grade and side road grade.

Main Road In-Progress Grade: B-

Side Road In-Progress Grade: C

So far, the city is doing a good job of salting and clearing main roads. Side roads are not as clear — our photos are showing little salt application and slow snow removal.  See our in-progress photos below.
