Taking Time

In 2010, Illinois Citizens spent 101 days working off their state and federal taxes, the Quinn tax hike will take even more of your time.

Seven more days this year.  That is what Governor Quinn is demanding people give up to pay for the exact same services as last year.  According to the Tax Foundation, in 2010, it took each of us 101 days to work off the taxes we owed to our federal and state governments.  By passing Governor Quinn’s 66% tax increase last week, the Illinois General Assembly asked for more of our time.

Instead of realigning their own spending, Illinois leaders have again turned to hardworking families for more money to fuel unsustainable levels of government spending.  Higher levels of taxation force citizens to dedicate more time to paying for the same government.  As George Will said:

Money is time made tangible — the time invested in earning it.  Taxation is the confiscation of the earner’s time.

Rather then cutting spending, right sizing benefits, and reforming service delivery; Quinn demands an extra seven days of work from you.
