The Northwest Herald called Gasser multiple times Saturday, but he could not be reached. However, on a Facebook message board, Gasser responded to the Northwest Herald: “I don’t talk to fake reporters.”
Northwest Herald: Algonquin Township highway commissioner spends money on 'fake news' attack
Before Andrew Gasser made the move of using a government-owned sign planted next to one of the busiest roads in McHenry County to label the Northwest Herald “fake news,” the Algonquin Township highway commissioner spent money to spread similar anti-media rhetoric on his political Facebook page.
Gasser’s attack display appeared on the government sign Friday afternoon and drew sweeping criticism from elected officials and taxpayers from across McHenry County and beyond.

The Vote Yes for Rochester Public Library Ballot Initiative Committee has the task of making residents aware of a question that will go on the Nov. 6 ballot asking residents within the Sangamon and Christian counties’ library district to vote on a $3.2 million bond to fund expansion, renovation and operational costs of the approximately 6,642-square-foot library located at 1 Community Drive, Rochester.
