Northwest Herald: Judge expected to make decision on McHenry Township lawsuit
A judge in Rockford has heard arguments on both sides of a federal lawsuit filed against McHenry Township officials that aims to derail a binding referendum that would give voters the power to abolish the road district in the November election.
U.S. District Court Judge Frederick Kapala is expected to deliver a written order on the case this week, McHenry Township attorney James Militello said.

A growing shortage of truck drivers in the United States is being met with increased recruiting and hiring efforts in the Decatur region to help bridge the gap.
“We’re pretty much always hiring drivers,” said Lou Johnson, general manager of McLane Food Service in Taylorville, a branch of the nationwide supply chain services that caters to grocery stores, restaurants and other businesses. “We’ll continue to hire drivers in the foreseeable future. We can’t grow the business until we get more drivers.”
State Journal-Register: New Illinois community college system director to get significant raise
The Illinois Community College Board last week named Brian Durham as its next executive director, starting in December.
Durham, 47, of Springfield, is now deputy director for academic affairs at the board. He is taking over for Karen Hunter Anderson, 64, of Rochester, who is retiring at the end of November. Durham also is likely to get a significant pay raise, as he now is paid $86,880 annually, and the salary range for the new post was listed as $150,000 to $190,000. His contract is still being negotiated, officials said. Anderson is paid $190,282 annually.
