Governor Quinn just released an overview of his plans for the fiscal year 2011 budget in a 26 slide powerpoint presentation. His plan calls for a lot of borrowing and some modest cuts but seems to be lacking the big-picture reforms our state needs.

His plan calls for a lot of borrowing and some modest cuts, but it seems to be lacking some of the big-picture reforms our state desperately needs. We’ll know more when the Governor gives his budget address in a few hours.
The Illinois Policy Institute will be appearing on major media outlets throughout the state today responding to the Governor’s budget proposal, and we will be posting those on our website as they become available.
The Institute will also be releasing an alternative budget early next week.
