The Illinois Honest Taxation Pledge has another new signer! Senator Dale Righter (R-Matoon) reaffirmed his commitment to protecting taxpayers and being honest with voters through his signature today.
The pledge asks incumbents pledge to oppose and vote against all tax hikes through the start of the 97th Session of the General Assembly in 2011.
Previously, David Vaught the Illinois Budget Director was quoted as saying, “We’re going to pass a tax increase in January. We expect it is going to be substantial.” in a Bloomberg News report.
Rather than being open and honest with voters some officials want to campaign against tax increases, then immediately punish middle class families with a tax hike once they are elected.
The pledge has gained eight new signers in October alone, as citizens demand to know where their legislator’s stance on a job killing tax hike. We applaud Senator Righter and his colleagues for standing with the families of Illinois on this issue.
