Library Technicians on the State Payroll

In 2008, library technicians on the state payroll received average annual wages over 60% higher than the average annual wages of library technicians in Illinois.

Using our transparency website, IllinoisOpenGov.org, I found that in 2008, the 18 library technicians on the state payroll received $46,149 in average annual wages. This is almost 62% more than the $28,550 in annual wages that the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that library technicians in Illinois received on average in 2008. Of the 18 library technicians working for the state in 2008, 16 were employed by the Illinois Secretary of State, and the Department of Historic Preservation and the Department of Human Services each employed one library technician. The highest paid library technician received $55,525 in annual wages, and the lowest paid library technician received $36,984.
