Don’t regulate trampoline courts

Instead of spending time on the economic reforms the state needs, lawmakers are considering bringing back an old bill that would apply new rules and regulations on trampoline safety that would require thousands of dollars of new spending.

House Bill 4222, filed Jan. 8, 2018 by state Rep. Robyn Gabel, D-Evanston, would provide for new rules and regulations for trampoline courts.

As defined, a “trampoline court” is any “commercial facility with a defined area composed of one or more trampolines, a series of trampolines, a trampoline court foam pit, or a series of trampoline court foam pits.”

These new rules and regulations would cause the state to purchase thousands of dollars worth of new inspection equipment and to pay for travel and overtime for these newly required inspections.
