Squeezy cost $23; pension inaction costs $21 million per day

An open records request to the governor’s office revealed the only new cost for the entire website was a $23 purchase to reserve domain names at GoDaddy.com.
Gov. Pat Quinn’s office says the website was produced in-house and a staffer came up with the concept of Squeezy.
While the $23 figure does not include any staff time, video production or paid actors, it’s clear that this was a low-budget production. And Quinn definitely got what he paid for.
Even though Quinn’s failed mascot did not cost taxpayers much, his inability to lead on pension reform is costing taxpayers $21 million per day not to mention his failure to reform retiree health benefits, which costs $1.2 million per day.
With a $9.4 billion stack of unpaid bills and another credit downgrade less than six months away, Quinn’s office should step away from their box of crayons and get to work.
