The federal government has spent almost $155 million on Illinois’ state ObamaCare websites, according to government figures compiled by the Washington, D.C.-based Americans for Tax Reform.
Just 1,370 Illinoisans added a plan to their shopping cart – a total that falls woefully short of the 17,000 enrollments federal officials had hoped for in the month of October. The number of people actually purchasing a plan is undoubtedly even lower.
That means taxpayers have spent about $90,000 per potential Illinois ObamaCare enrollee.
President Barack Obama campaigned on a promise of reducing health costs by an average of $2,500 per family. If this is what “affordable” health care looks like, Illinois can’t afford it.
