Alderman Wants More Transparency in Quincy

Transparency coming to Quincy?

by Kate Piercy

The Quincy Herald Whig reports Alderman Paul Havermale, R-3, has initiated talks about bringing more transparency to city government in Quincy, “asking city officials to consider some steps to increase “transparency” in city government.”

Havermale remarked, “With as active as the electorate is starting to become in politics, which is a good thing in my book, I feel the more transparent we can be, the more it keeps us on our toes as elected officials and it makes us do our job a little bit better.”

This is great news for the city of Quincy, and kudos to Alderman Havermale.

Quincy could get started on the path to more transparent government by referring to the Illinois Policy Institute’s 10-point Transparency Checklist, which outlines clear benchmarks for making government transparent.
