HOI ABC: Illinois lawmakers, advocates discuss demand for nursing home reform
The pandemic continues to take a tremendous toll on residents and staff in nursing homes. But, the experience became even worse for some patients who only needed rehab services.
Deborah Williams was one of the advocates speaking to Illinois lawmakers during a hearing Wednesday morning. She explained that her mother-in-law needed help after having a stroke. However, her family never expected her to stay there permanently. Williams stressed that some families could care for their loved ones at home and only need assistance with rehabilitation services.
FOX Illinois: Illinois reports protected health information exposed
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) and the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) (collectively the Departments) in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) are notifying the public of an incident within the State of Illinois Integrated Eligibility System (IES).
On November 24, 2020, the State discovered an issue within IES, which is the eligibility system of record for State-funded medical benefits programs, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

Southwest Illinois counties continued to show an uptick in vaccinations while most COVID-19 positivity rates remained below 6.0% the past three days. Additionally, the ICU bed availability reached the highest level since July.

NPR Illinois: Illinois’ Eviction Moratorium Set to Expire Oct. 3
The state’s moratorium on enforcement of residential evictions will expire on Oct. 3, according to Gov. JB Pritzker’s latest COVID-19 executive order issued Friday.
Pritzker had extended the order each month with minor to substantial revisions since March 2020. The extensions have come in 30-day windows, coinciding with his monthly reissuance of a disaster proclamation in response to the pandemic.
