The village of Rosemont is moving forward on a $60 million taxpayer-funded baseball stadium.

State and local tax hikes in Illinois have hurt economic growth, lowered the standard of living, and contributed to out-migration.

Trustees in Rosemont, Ill., voted to hike their mayor’s salary to $260,000 – a 53 percent raise.

Taxpayers will shell out $36 million for Soldier Field in 2016, in addition to footing the bill for U.S. Cellular Field. And the city of Chicago is still pushing a plan for DePaul University that would cost an initial $55 million for a new basketball stadium.
